We are gearing up for our annual K-12 Back-to-School Backpack/Supplies Event coming up on Friday, August 23rd 4:30-6PM…we will be set up at the main entrance/LTBB Government Center.
We will create a list of school supplies/items that will be included in each backpack once we receive all donations from contributing departments.
Our team selected some cool backpacks this year, as seen on the flyer below. 😊

12 Jul Odawa Casino & Hotel Blood Drive

The Odawa Casino & Hotel is hosting a blood drive event at the Odawa Hotel (Huron Room) on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 from 10am to 2:30pm. The goal this time is 20 donations which would impact over 60 patient lives in Michigan.
FYI, there is currently an emergency blood supply shortage and hospitals have less than a days’ worth of blood at any given time, so we’re hoping to sign up as many folks as possible. The Secretary of State in conjunction with Michigan Indian Legal Services and other partners will be hosting a Road to Restoration event in Petoskey on July 16 to provide information to individuals interested in having their driver’s license reinstated.

When we look at the changing of the season’s we realize how quickly transformation occurs. One season quickly fades in to the next and the harvesting continues during this busy time. Odemin has born its fruit and is making way for Mskomini Giizis/Raspberry moon. Mskomini Giizis reminds us that by learning gentleness and kindness, we may pass through the thorns of its brush and harvest its fruit as we gain knowledge that will help in raising our families.

This also refers to all things associated to the heart physically and Spiritually. Because of its unique shape resembling the heart within us all this berry is often used in ceremonies and teachings.
