When we look at the changing of the season’s we realize how quickly transformation occurs. One season quickly fades in to the next and the harvesting continues during this busy time. Odemin has born its fruit and is making way for Mskomini Giizis/Raspberry moon. Mskomini Giizis reminds us that by learning gentleness and kindness, we may pass through the thorns of its brush and harvest its fruit as we gain knowledge that will help in raising our families.

It’s that time of year when all of the harvest times are starting. This month we talk of Odemin Giizis/Strawberry Moon. In the Anishnaabe language the word for heart is Ode,

This also refers to all things associated to the heart physically and Spiritually. Because of its unique shape resembling the heart within us all this berry is often used in ceremonies and teachings.
