The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians COVID-19 Financial Impact Relief Payment Program Policy V*
*To remain consistent with previous COVID funding programs, Tribal Council Resolution titled Payment III, will be referred to as payment V this policy.

Similar to many other governments across the world, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians has declared a Tribal State of Emergency during the COVID -19 Emergency Disaster on March 17, 2020.

It is time to start thinking about what Kitigaan (Garden) Kits you want to plant this year. Our Kitigaan Kit event will occur at the Government Center on May 20th from 10 AM- 2 PM. Ordering is open to the tribal community, including tribal employees.

FS-2022-23, March 2022 This Fact Sheet issues final FAQs for Payments by Indian Tribal Governments and Alaska Native Corporations to Individuals under COVID- Relief Legislation, which reflect updates to the Draft FAQs based on input from tribal government and Alaska Native Corporations leaders. For purposes of these FAQs, references to tribal members include other eligible recipients of COVID relief payments, such as a tribal member’s dependents.

We are bringing two Healers to our community: Mary Pine and Joseph Syrette.

Behavioral Health is pleased to announce the re-opening of our community support groups! 
We will be hosting our Wellbriety AA meeting on Monday evenings at 6:00 PM and a community Talking Circle on Thursdays at 5:00 PM.  The groups will commence on April 4 & April 7 respectively and will be held weekly (as long as we remain in Phase 5 and beyond).

Tribal Chairperson Regina Gasco-Bentley has released a statement regarding the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa’s reservation litigation.

On Monday, February 28, 2022 the Supreme Court of the United States denied review of our case in Federal Court in which we sought affirmation of the reservation boundaries in the 1855 Treaty of Detroit. In legalese, the U.S. Supreme court ordered that “The petition for a writ of certiorari is denied.” We sought review of the May 28, 2021 ruling of the Federal Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit in which the Court held that the 1855 Treaty did not establish a jurisdictional reservation.
